Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat added another major achievement to his remarkable career on Friday, capturing the European Championship title in the floor exercise in Zagreb.
Dolgopyat delivered a strong routine in the final and received a score of 14.466 points, securing the gold medal and another continental title for Israel.
The victory marks Dolgopyat's third European championship in the floor exercise. He previously stood atop the podium in 2020 and 2022. He had also earned silver medals at the European Championships in 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024.
Dolgopyat's success comes on the heels of an outstanding Olympic career. He won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and followed it with a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Games.
His international record also includes three World Championship medals in the floor exercise: gold in 2023 and silver medals in 2017 and 2019.
Israel Gymnastics Federation chairman Avi Sagi praised Dolgopyat following his latest triumph.
"Artem once again proves that he is made of the stuff great champions are made of. For years, on the biggest stages in the world, he has continued to deliver tremendous achievements for the State of Israel, and this evening he adds a third European championship title to his illustrious résumé," Sagi said.
"Behind these achievements are exceptional talent, determination, hard work and the ability to rise to the occasion time and again in the decisive moments. We are endlessly proud of Artem and congratulate him, Sergei and the entire professional staff on another great and moving moment for Israeli gymnastics and Israeli sports as a whole. Artem - a true champion."
