Some 50,000 people attended the second Selichot prayer service at the Western Wall on Thursday night. Among those taking part were Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, captivity survivors Bar Kupershtein and Agam Berger, wounded IDF veterans suffering both physical and psychological injuries, and tens of thousands of worshippers.
Since the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul, more than 150,000 worshippers have taken part in Selichot services held over the past week at the Western Wall plaza.
During the service, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rabbi of the Western Wall and the holy sites, joined tens of thousands of worshippers in heartfelt prayers for the safety of IDF soldiers and security forces, as well as for unity and the security of Israel.
The next major Selichot service will take place Saturday night, at 12:15 a.m., with tens of thousands of worshippers expected to attend.
