Shas chairman MK Aryeh Deri launched the party’s election campaign with a direct attack on elements within the Haredi community, accusing them of cooperating with the left.
During his speech at the campaign launch conference, Deri said: “People from within the Haredi community have betrayed the path of the Torah. Over the past two years, the left has activated people from within the Haredi community and invested very large sums of money, all with the aim of suppressing the vote for the Haredi parties and bringing down the right-wing bloc."
He added: “It is all under a Haredi guise, with Haredi slogans, but the money is the same money. They are fighting to destroy the Haredi community from within and to harm our education."
“We must not fall into the trap they are setting for us," the Shas chairman concluded.
