Palestinian Arab claims that settlers entered a village in the Hebron area and set fire to a building were found to be baseless after an investigation determined that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
According to the claim circulated Thursday morning, the building was set on fire while members of the family were inside.
Palestinian Arabs claimed that "settler militias" entered the village and set fire to the building. They later told military personnel who entered the village to investigate the incident that there had been "Jews shouting in Hebrew" outside the house.
An fire investigator and Israel Police forensic investigator arrived at the scene and examined the circumstances of the fire. At the conclusion of their examination, both determined that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit and was not deliberately set.
In addition, no evidence was found that Jews had entered the village during the night. This also ruled out the claim that the fire broke out as a result of "settlers" entering village.
