It isn't because she doesn't understand what it takes to support a family. Sarah is a mother of eight, and she has done everything she can to keep her household running. But as her 11-year-old son battles cancer, the family's finances have spiraled beyond what she can manage alone.
Today the Katz family carries roughly 58,000 NIS in debt (about $16,000), while the threat of losing their home hangs over all eight children.
"I never imagined I would reach this point," Sarah says. "I just want to be able to provide my children with the basics and keep a roof over their heads."

The unpaid rent is only part of the crisis. With eight children to care for and a son in the middle of a cancer battle, the family's everyday expenses, food, bills, basic necessities, have piled up while Sarah tries to be there for her sick child.
What began as financial hardship has become an emergency.
Chasdei Avraham Yaakov, an organization with rabbinic backing, has stepped in with an emergency campaign to help the Katz family tackle their debt, catch up on 11 months of unpaid rent, and hold onto the stability they need.
