For most children, bedtime ends with a hug from both parents. For one 11-year-old boy, it ends with a question his mother cannot answer.
The boy asks it every night: "When is Abba coming home?"
His father, Shlomo, remains imprisoned in Ukraine while efforts continue to secure his release. Those close to the case say there is a real window to move it forward right now, but the legal and humanitarian work behind it requires immediate funding. Community leaders describe the coming days as critical.
His mother is holding the family together on her own. Their son is still waiting for an answer.

Jewish tradition teaches that Pidyon Shevuyim, redeeming a captive, is among the greatest mitzvos a person can perform. Rav Yaakov Jan has given this campaign his written approval, urging eveyone to take part. So far, $3,483 has come in toward the $90,000 needed, a gap of $86,517.
Somewhere tonight, an 11-year-old will ask the same question again. This time, there could be an answer.
