Eyal Eshel, the father of Nahal Oz surveillance post operator Ronni Eshel, who was murdered during the October 7 massacre, said in a Channel 2 interview that terrorists in the area were heard speaking Farsi on the day of the attack. Eshel said the information was based on testimony he collected from people who were present at the Nahal Oz military base and served there at the time.
“On Shabbat, October 7, at the Nahal Oz camp, terrorists, whoever they were, were there, and they spoke and shouted at each other in Farsi," Eshel said. “Every day you learn new things, so here too, we learned this."
He explained that the information came from people who were at the site during the attack. “We rely on people who were here and served there," he said. “Yes, we know a lot more than we knew about Shabbat, October 7, in the weeks and months that followed. Yes, today we know. I understand from this detail that they collected information about us before October 7."
He stressed that the information did not come from the IDF but was gathered independently from various sources.
“It’s all things that we gather. I work on this, I live it. I’m on a mission that Ronni placed on me," Eshel said. "I’ve more or less come to terms with the fact that Ronni won’t come back, yes, but she tasked me with making this country better, healing it, trying to heal it," he said.
“I’m trying with all my might," Eshel added. “It’s a lot of resources and a lot of will, so that the children growing up here today will grow into a different reality, because we deserve it, they deserve it."
