Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz and former Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked have held talks in recent days regarding a possible joint run in the upcoming election, Channel 12 political analyst Amit Segal reported.
According to the report, the negotiations focused on reaching a compromise aimed at resolving the question of political leadership.
Under the emerging proposal, Gantz would head the joint list or political framework, while Shaked would receive first choice of a Cabinet position should the alliance become part of a future governing coalition.
During the negotiations, Shaked reportedly made clear that she is seeking to return to politics in a way which will allow her to wield significant influence, while Gantz was unwilling to give up the top spot on the ticket.
Arutz Sheva - Israel National News has learned that Shaked has also been in contact with Shvut Ra'anan, Dr. Aliza Bloch, and other figures from the Religious Zionist camp.
The talks come amid growing expectations within the so-called "third bloc" that additional mergers will be necessary before party lists are finalized. Leaders in the bloc reportedly believe that too many small parties could split the vote and leave some failing to cross the electoral threshold, and therefore it is essential to join forces.
