A joint attack was launched on Israel on Thursday evening from Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon, as the first day of Passover came to an end. At least one missile fell in Petah Tikva during a barrage from Iran. Additional reports for impacts are being investigated.
Magen David Adom teams operated at 12 different scenes due to reports of interception debris and falling objects, and have so far found no injuries. It was later reported that one individual was taken from the scene in Petah Tikva to Beilinson Hospital; their condition is mild.
Security officials told i24NEWS that a missile with a 400 kg warhead fell in an open area in Petah Tikva; no one was injured as a result.
Magen David Adom medics and paramedics provided medical treatment to a man in his 30s who was injured in the back and a man in his 40s who sustained a head injury following a fall in the Bina area near Karmiel. The two were wounded by shrapnel after a strike near a school, and their condition is mild. Several people suffering from anxiety were also evacuated from the scene.
MDA medic Mohammad Hussein said: “We arrived quickly with ambulances, intensive care units, and MDA motorcycles. We saw two men who were fully conscious and suffering from shrapnel injuries. We provided initial medical treatment at the scene and evacuated them to the hospital in mild condition. At the same time, we treated people suffering from anxiety who were at the scene."
Fire and Rescue forces are operating at the impact site at a kindergarten in Nahariya, which caused destruction at the location and damage to a nearby residential building. Deputy commander of the Zvulun station, Deputy Fire Chief Shmulik Franco, said: “This is a single scene that sustained a direct hit, causing extensive damage to the kindergarten and also to an apartment building across from it. Firefighters are conducting searches in the apartments and in the kindergarten. One person suffering from anxiety is being treated at the scene by medical teams."
IDF officials said Thursday that Iran and Hezbollah had prepared for heavy rocket fire toward Israel during the Passover holiday.
The preparations also included attempts at coordinated launches in several “waves." Despite this, Israeli security officials did not have concrete prior intelligence indicating an attack on the scale that ultimately occurred.
During the holiday, about 20 missiles were launched from Iran, half of which fell inside Israeli territory and half were intercepted. Additional attempts to launch dozens of missiles were made during the morning and evening hours.
At the same time, approximately 130 rockets were fired from Lebanon toward Israel over the past 24 hours. The IDF noted that about two-thirds of the fire was directed at IDF forces, while roughly one-third targeted Israeli territory.
Defense officials estimate that between 800 and 1,000 militants moved south of the Litani River as part of Hezbollah’s preparations to expand operations in southern Lebanon.
