The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and Israel Police have uncovered another espionage case involving an active-duty IDF soldier who served at the Hatzerim Air Base and allegedly operated under the direction of Iranian intelligence.

An indictment was filed Thursday against Refael Reuveni, a 21-year-old resident of Be’er Sheva, who was arrested two months ago following a joint investigation. He is accused of knowingly carrying out a series of security-related tasks on behalf of Iran.

According to the findings, Reuveni in recent months maintained ongoing contact with Iranian handlers and received detailed instructions from them. He was documented carrying out various missions, including photographing sites in his city of residence, planting a mobile phone and a cigarette box for his handlers, and retrieving a SIM card from a hidden location.

One of the more serious charges against him involved locating a concealed firearm and confirming its location. Following instructions, Reuveni went to the hiding place, found an object which appeared to be a gun, and moved it to a different location, in accordance with the directions he received.

The investigation revealed that Reuveni received significant financial compensation through digital payment methods for the tasks he carried out.
