Rabbi Dov Lando, a leading Lithuanian-haredi rabbi, is expected to announce his decision on whether his community's politicians should support the proposed Draft Law.

According to political sources, Rabbi Lando is expected to issue a final decision within the next 24 hours. It is expected that he will approve the bill but attach specific conditions, which will be presented to the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Ahead of the legislative push, the Lithuanian-haredi Degel Hatorah and Sephardic-haredi Shas are working in close coordination. Once Rabbi Lando gives his approval, both parties are expected to work together to support the law.

Within the hasidic-haredi Agudat Yisrael, however, a split is anticipated: MKs Yitzhak Goldknopf and Yaakov Tessler are expected to oppose the law, while MKs Meir Porush and Yirael Eichler may support it - meaning most haredi MKs would ultimately back the bill.

Despite this, many MKs are in doubt regarding the Draft Law’s chances of passing in the Knesset plenum.
