Foreign Minister Gideon Saar condemned the Australian government in an interview with Erin Molan over what he described as a series of "shameful" decisions, accusing Canberra of fueling antisemitism and damaging bilateral relations.
Sa'ar denounced Australia's decision to block entry to certain Israeli politicians and public figures. According to the minister, the bans were issued on the grounds that these individuals could pose a threat to public order or inflame tensions within Australia's Muslim population — claims he dismissed as "totally false and totally disconnected from anything rational."
“This is the opposite of what should be done,” the minister said. “Instead of battling antisemitism in Australia, the Australian government is doing the opposite — they are fueling it.”
He went on to warn that such policies reflect a troubling shift in Australia's approach to international diplomacy and accused the government of taking a "very, very wrong path."
