The Grand Rebbe of the Boyan Hassidic sect, Rabbi Nachum Dov Brayer, sent special gifts to soldiers on the front lines.
According to Walla reporter Yaki Adamker, the gift consisted of a prayerbook and a letter for the soldiers, and a box of chocolates for their wives.
"To our brothers who are fighting in the war, risking their lives in the harsh war against the haters of Israel who wish to destroy us and to their families who stand behind them with dedication for the salvation of all," the letter opens.
"Be strong and brave. Remember that G-d is with us, and he gives us the strength to fight," it continues.
The Rabbi addressed the soldiers, writing: "You are etched into our hearts and into the hearts of the people of Israel. We all pray to our merciful Father that you will protected from all harm. May his angels look after you everywhere you go to bring you back safely, whole in body and spirit, and you should succeed without any harm or pain. And at this time, we will drive into our hearts the strong faith in the creator of all, who runs the world with kindness and mercy, the one who watches over Israel forever and does not leave or abandon his people. Do not fear because the nation relies on your success,"
Adamker wrote that followers of the Rebbe told him that this was the first time the rabbi, who is a member of the Council of Torah Sages of the Agudath Israel faction, had made such a gesture.
