Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich is asking not to transfer funds to the Palestinian Authority from the taxes that Israel collects for it due to its actions and support of Hamas in Gaza.
In a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister Smotrich wrote that he instructed to wait for the transfer of funds until a cabinet meeting, which will make a decision on the matter.
Smotrich wrote that "the PA proved again the fact, which I have been screaming about for years, that it is a terror organization. Therefore, and beyond the funds' connection to the Gaza Strip and its residents, these funds are used in actions against the State of Israel and its citizens. It is unthinkable that, in this reality, we would continue transferring the aforementioned funds as if nothing happened."
The letter also noted the steps the PA is taking against Israel on the international stage, in which it called to "try the Israeli war criminals."
