The families of Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, two Israelis who entered the Gaza Strip and are being held by Hamas, will be recognized as victims of hostilities, Reshet Bet radio reported on Wednesday.
The move will be carried out as part of the legislation to recognize the families of the over 200 hostages who have been taken to Gaza since the outbreak of the Swords of Iron war.
Mengistu entered the Gaza Strip in September of 2014 and al-Sayed entered the Strip in April 2015.
In a discussion that took place on Wednesday in the Knesset, it was decided that the families of the hostages and missing persons will be defined by law as victims of hostilities, and will be able to receive the appropriate rights and treatment once the law is passed.
