US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived Thursday at the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem.
"Good to see you," Blinken said. "Sorry it's under these circumstances."
"We're here," he added. "We're not going anywhere."
Attending the meeting were Foreign Minister Eli Cohen (Likud), Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, the staff head, the head of the National Security Council, the military secretary, Israel's ambassador to Washington, and the diplomatic adviser.
Among the American officials present were the US ambassador to Israel, Blinken's aide for Middle East matters, and a diplomatic adviser.
Following the meeting, Blinken will hold a private meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They will then hold a joint press conference.
Following the press conference, there will be an expanded meeting attended by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant (Likud) and MKs Benny Gantz and Gadi Eizenkot of the National Unity party.
