Thousands of demonstrators protested in several areas across the country on Monday evening, in response to the approval of the law limiting the use of the reasonableness standard.
For many hours, protesters tried to block the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv without success after police forces prevented them from doing so, but after several attempts, hundreds of protesters descended on the highway, lit fires and blocked traffic.
Police forces are at the scene and are working to disperse the rioters while using riot dispersal methods, including a water cannon. After three hours, police were finally able to clear the road. 18 protesters were arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace.
The protests turned violent after protesters threw bottles and parts of fences at police officers. Ten officers were injured.
The protesters lit bonfires on the roads and caused heavy damage to infrastructure.
Earlier on Monday evening, police opened Begin Road in Jerusalem to traffic in both directions after it had been blocked by protesters.

In Tel Aviv, the Kaplan junction and other roads were blocked to traffic by protesters. Near Kfar Saba, a driver ran over three protesters who were lightly injured.
