MK Yisrael Eichler (United Torah Judaism) spoke Wednesday about the recent counterterror operation in Jenin, saying a short prayer for the soldiers' welfare and offering condolences to the family of David Yehuda Yitzhak, who fell as Israel's forces exited Jenin, Kikar Hashabbat reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, which focused on Defense Ministry pensioners, Eichler said, "This is the time to pray for the welfare of the soldiers who have returned from Jenin. I express my condolences to the family of David Yitzhak, may G-d avenge his blood, who fell last night in Jenin. He merited to sanctify G-d's Name with his death."
"We pray for the welfare of all of those who settle the Land of Israel, Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and the towns of the center, the residents of the south and those who reside in the north, including the Jews of the Diaspora; all are targets of the terror organizations, which do not recognize our right to the land."
Earlier on Wednesday, MK Nissim Vaturi, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, called for a moment of silence and recited a Psalm in memory of Yitzhak.
Yitzhak, a 23-year-old resident of Beit El and a member of the Egoz Unit, was killed during operational activity in Jenin on Tuesday. The IDF is investigating whether he was hit by friendly fire. Yitzhak will be laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon on Mount Herzl. The family has requested that there be no media coverage of the funeral.
