IDF forces began leaving the Jenin area on Tuesday night, following an exchange of fire near a local hospital.
The reported withdrawal follows two days' of successful fighting as part of the IDF's "Operation Home and Garden" to remove terror infrastructure in Jenin.
In the exchange of fire earlier Tuesday evening, armed terrorist battled IDF soldiers near a Jenin hospital.
Wissam Abu Baqar, who runs the hospital, blamed the IDF forces, saying that, "They could have traveled on another road in order to reach the refugee camp, but they insisted on passing near the hospital. We contacted the Red Cross more than once due to the fire on the hospital, but the IDF did not respond to our requests."
Earlier on Tuesday evening, the IDF reported that as of 7:00p.m. on Tuesday evening, IDF, Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and Israel Border Police forces had confiscated over a thousand weapons in Jenin, among them explosive devices, ammunition, guns and explosives facilities. At the same time, over 300 suspects were questioned by security forces; among them, 30 were apprehended.
Additionally, IDF soldiers located and neutralized an explosives manufacturing facility containing dozens of pipe bombs, gas tanks, and remotely operated weapons. The entrance to the facility was booby-trapped with an explosive device, which was neutralized by the forces. This marks the fourth such facility located and neutralized by IDF soldiers in the Jenin area.
