Representatives of the Homesh Yeshiva paid a condolence visit to the family of David Yitzhak Yehuda, the IDF soldier who was killed last week during the IDF's counterterrorism operation in Jenin. They showed the family a video of their late son dancing at the yeshiva's Purim party a few months ago when he was serving in the area.
Rabbi Menachem Ben-Shachar, one of the yeshiva's rabbis, recounted the meeting with David's parents: "I told the parents about the David we were privileged to meet last winter. Soldiers from the Egoz unit served in Homesh for two months. David would often come to the study hall for evening prayers, to study, and talk with the students."
"He danced with us for hours on Purim night, and anyone at the yeshiva remembers him and the dancing," he added.
He says, "The parents were very moved to see the videos of the dancing, in which David the soldier is seen dancing with the students. They said it was difficult for him to stay in the army for Purim, a holiday he loved so much. And after Purim, he told his parents that he was at the Homesh Yeshiva, and it was good."
