A wave of criticism was posted to social media sites this morning against the commander of the Modi'in police station, accusing her of failing to send officers to the protest against Justice Minister Yariv Levin.
In the comments written against Commander Linor Levy, it was noted that she is the daughter-in-law of former Knesset Speaker Miki Levy, a member of the Yesh Atid party. "She did not send a car to Levin's house and allowed the rioters a free rein to abuse the residents of the neighborhood and endanger the life of Minister Levin."
The Police Commissioner supported Levy and condemned the criticism: "Irresponsible people threw a match of misrepresentation into the net and ignited a bonfire of false and irresponsible statements against a high-quality and excellent police officer, who works every day for the entire public and reached her current position thanks to her excellent skills as a commander."
"I call on the public to immediately stop the further spreading of lies on social networks and condemn them. The commander of the Modi'in intelligence station is a valued officer and I strengthen her and promise that the organization will deal with any false publication against Israel Police officers."
The district commander, Superintendent Avi Biton, expressed his disgust at the postings on the networks and noted: "This is a high-quality officer who is on her way to senior command in the central district and the Shefela region, veteran of many professional achievements in leading the station she commands for the sake of public safety and its police, and any malicious attempt to create a distorted image should be rejected outright."
The court released to house arrest the six protesters who were arrested this morning in the violent demonstration in front of the house of Minister Yariv Levin in Modi'in.
The demonstrators were removed from the city of Modi'in and were forbidden to participate in demonstrations for 10 days.
