The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) denounced Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-M) for her latest tweet containing falsehoods about Israel, questioning why Democrats are remaining silent after the lawmaker claimed that the Jewish State was "born out of violence and ethnic cleansing."
Responding to a tweet from Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who commented on the special relationship between the United States and Israel after his address to the Knesset, Tlaib wrote:
"Speaker McCarthy wants to rewrite history but the apartheid state of Israel was born out of violence and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians."
The Michigan Democrat added: "75 years later, the Nakba continues to this day."
The NRCC slammed Tlaib's tweet in a statement on their website, writing, "Antisemitism. It’s everywhere in the House Democratic caucus."
The political committee, which works to elect Republicans to the House of Representatives, described the silence of the Democratic Party as "unfortunately, par for the course." They also criticized Democratic House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries for not taking action, charging that he "defended antisemites & then lied about it for decades," citing his past defense of his uncle, Black studies professor Leonard Jeffries, who CNN reported was terminated from his job over offensive comments about Jews.
“House Democrats continue to embrace antisemitism, and unless all members of their caucus condemn Rashida Tlaib, they are complicit actors in her disgusting hate," NRCC National Press Secretary Will Reinert said.
