A 26-year-old Bedouin Arab was arrested near Ashkelon for speeding - and found to be driving even though his license had been suspended.
The arrest took place during as police were operating to enforce traffic laws in southern Israel, when officers on duty ordered the Bedouin, who had been driving at a speed of 135 km/h (around 84 mph) in a 90 km/h (60 mph) zone, to a halt.
An examination showed that the Arab, who is a resident of Ar'ara Banegev in southern Israel, had had his license suspended by the court.
The driver was interrogated and then sent to house arrest, and the police prosecutors intend to indict him.
His vehicle has been impounded for a period of thirty days.
