A fire broke out Tuesday in a Beit Shemesh synagogue located near a local preschool.

Firefighting teams arrived at the scene and worked to extinguish the flames and search for anyone who might be trapped. No one was injured.

Initial reports of the fire had reached the firefighters at approximately 8:00a.m., and claimed that the "Bati Legani" preschool in Ramat Beit Shemesh C smelled strongly of smoke.

The preschool's staff were ordered to evacuate the building until firefighters could arrive and gain control of the fire.

Four teams of firefighters were called to the scene and began searching for the source of the fire, soon discovering that it was not in the preschool but in a nearby synagogue.

The firefighters forced their way into the building and worked to extinguish the flames and air out the synagogue, while searching for anyone who might be trapped or injured.

Though no one was trapped or injured, the synagogue itself suffered damage.
