For three months reform-opponents mimicked, democracy democracy democracy as if it were a soul-cleansing mantra. It indeed worked the way mantras are meant to work – putting the intellect on dry ice. Flipping through a Jewish weekly paper, I found that statements for blockheads to dote and fawn upon were a constant occurrence. If the statements capture the folly that took Israel to the brink then ....I can’t imagine what.

So I picked out some of the loony gibberish, the crowning insults to intelligence we’ve had to endure for a quarter of a year.

Nitwit Notions

The Editor of the paper scattered her sugary sensibilities to the four corners. They could make material for a webinar demonstrating how to spot ‘Nitwit Notions.’ In this extract from the Editor’s praise of the protestors try spotting two nitwit notions:

“The protests were about Israelis loving their country so much, they refuse to allow politicians to damage its integrity to further their own agenda. They had no problem with bringing the country to a complete standstill. Airport, shopping centres, schools, hospitals and business were closed. Israelis will do what needs to be done to avoid harming their home.” (SAJR. 30 March - 20 April, 2023)

Demos = the people. Kratos = rule. Democracy = the people rule. And how do they rule? By giving power to a political party or a collation of parties, and taking power away from it. And what do the people expect the party or coalition they gave power to do? No prize for the answer: the people expect it to implement the party agenda.

“Israelis,” wrote the sugary Editor, love their country so much that “they refuse to allow politicians to further their own agenda.” Editor, dear, do put down your knitting for a moment. If not their own agenda then whose agenda do you expect the politicians in power to further? The agenda of people who didn’t cast enough votes to get their politicians into power: is that the agenda you expect those in power to further?

Imbecility knows no limit. For agony effect however it’s hard to beat the imbecility of scoring an own goal.

The sugary Editor scores a perfect own goal with her second statement:

“They had no problem with bringing the country to a complete standstill. Airport, shopping centres, schools, hospitals and business were closed. Israelis will do what needs to be done to avoid harming their home.” ???

Ahem...

The Social Entrepreneur

At least we know what an editor does to earn a living. But what does a social entrepreneur, one who noch acts as an advisor to philanthropists, do for a living? What knowhow could he possibly apply to advise a philanthropist incapable of self reflection to throw his wealth at cause A rather than cause B? The brain is stumped. But tune in to the wisdom of the social entrepreneur and advisor to philanthropists.

Note

We are dealing with an Israeli expat living the good life in South Africa.

“I went out (to Israel) to save our democracy. If one side insists on taking advantage of its accidental majority in the Knesset in order to force us to become the S African Apartheid regime, the masses will fight. Literally.”

“Accidental majority”. So Likud and the parties in the coalition government beat their opponents by accident. So the parties on the left lost the election by accident. A philanthropist would allow a social entrepreneur who can scatter such pearls of wisdom to advise him how to scatter wealth at causes?

“Force us to become the S African Apartheid regime,” he continues.

So judicial reform = Apartheid.

Our sugary Editor gave a demented social entrepreneur quarter of a page to cover with brain damaged ranting? But he’s barely worked up steam.

“The masses will fight. Literally,” he threatens.

Don’t we catch glimpses of Antifa? It, recall, acted as the Biden regime’s storm troopers. Antifa mobs set flame to cities and police cars after George Floyd died at the hands of police. No mobster got put in jail. Antifa, recall, threatened to repeat, burn burn burn in the run up to the Presidential election – should Trump dare beat Biden. It’s what our social entrepreneur hints at. Burn burn burn should the democratically elected coalition parties prevail.

Wouldn’t you think it calls for the Editor, and the proprietor of the Jewish weekly to explain what they’re at? How connected are they to the social entrepreneur?

For democracy to work the party in power must allow the people to vote for the candidate they like. If the party in power won’t tolerate the people choosing Donald Trump to run for office, that can’t be democracy. Can it? That’s a banana republic, isn’t it? I mean, even the ANC gives opposition parties the freedom to choose their candidates. Yet in our Jewish weekly paper, the one fighting for Israel’s democracy, I read:

“Reporters asked Biden about the health of Israel’s democracy. Israel’s rollbacks in democratic rights sound a jarring dissonance with Biden’s foreign policy which stresses democratic values.” (SAJR 30 March-20 April)

Rubbish is as rubbish does. Heaven help Israel if all this turns out to be reflective of the protest movement against reform.
