A terrorist who plotted to assassinate a former chief rabbi of Israel is now planning a lecture tour in the UK and Ireland.
Salah Hamouri, who was convicted of supporting the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and planning to assassinate former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel Ovadia Yosef, was deported from Israel to France in 2022.
According to a report by Israel Hayom Tuesday, Hamouri is planning a lecture tour on the subjects of liberty, freedom of expression, and Hamouri’s allegations of “Israeli apartheid.”
Hamouri is banned from speaking publicly in France, and will instead take his speaking tour to the UK and Ireland.
The BeTzelmo human rights organization called on Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen to request that Britain and Ireland bar Hamouri from entering their respective countries.
“We cannot stand idly by while a convicted terrorist spreads his terrorist ethos across Europe and thus endangers the safety of Israelis and Jews living in the countries he visits,” said Shai Glick, chairman of BeTzelmo.
