The IDF has determined that the unknown aircraft which was shot down yesterday (Sunday) after crossing into Israeli airspace from Syria was a drone which is likely Iranian in origin.

The IDF spokesperson said that the pieces of the UAV were collected and the incident is under investigation.

Air Force fighter jets and helicopters were scrambled after the aircraft was detected on Sunday night. The drone was brought down in an open area and did not present a threat at any stage.

Meanwhile, this morning a fighter jet intercepted an UAV over the skies of the Gaza Strip. The drone was detected in the skies of the Gaza Strip and was tracked by the Air Force's control unit until it was shot down. The IDF said that the drone did not cross into the territory of the State of Israel and did not pose a threat at any stage.
