One of the three men wounded in an Arab terrorist attack in Tel Aviv earlier this month succumbed to his wounds Monday, passing away at Ichilov Medical Center.

Hospital officials announced Monday afternoon that Or Ashkar, an athlete who had recently competed in the Iron Man triathlon, died eleven days after he was shot and seriously wounded by a Hamas terrorists while en route to a wedding in Tel Aviv.

“Or came to us after extensive resuscitation attempts in the field, which were continued in the hospital, and he was immediately taken to the operating room where, against all odds, the doctors managed to stabilize his condition,” Roni Gamzu, the hospital’s director, said.

“Unfortunately, the intensity of the wounds were fatal, and after a lengthy struggle over a number of days… we were forced today to declare his death.”

On the evening of March 9th, Ashkar and his friends Rotem Mansano and Michael Osdon were wounded when the Hamas-affiliated terrorist, 23-year-old Ni’lin resident Mutaz Salah al-Khawaja, opened fire on them outside of a café on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv, before security personnel shot and killed the terrorist.

Both Ashkar and Mansano were seriously wounded in the attack, while Odson suffered light-to-moderate wounds.
