Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, strongly criticized the police and the prosecutor's office for their response to the protests against the government's planned judicial reforms.

"What's been happening here in the last few weeks is, for all intents and purposes, an insurrection by the police leadership," Netanyahu wrote on Twitter.

"It is important to understand that several thousand anarchists do not have the strength to block even one main road. Those who actually block the roads every few days are the police commanders and the prosecutor's office. They are the real ones responsible for the chaos that is happening here. They do it out of malice and not out of helplessness. They fully cooperate with the anarchists, at the expense of the people of Israel," he added.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also criticized the police response to the protests in closed conversations and accused them of refusing to carry out his orders.

"They haven't followed my instructions throughout the day, both at Ben Gurion Airport and at the Ayalon Highway. The police do what they want. It can't go on like this," Ben-Gvir said.

Thursday was the second 'Day of Disruption' held by demonstrators against the judicial reforms. Demonstrators blocked highways and even blocked the roads leading to Ben Gurion Airport for two hours when Prime Minister Netanyahu arrived at the airport by helicopter for his diplomatic visit to Italy.

In contrast to today's successful blocking of highways, the police cracked down hard on those who did the same during the protests against the Gush Katif expulsion and the haredi protests against the draft law.. People were knocked down and dragged off the road by police, others were summarily imprisoned and given jail sentences of several weeks or months.
