The IDF claimed that a group of Jews threw stones at Arab vehicles and that one of the rioters assaulted a soldier today near Ramallah today (Tuesday).

"Earlier today, a report was received regarding several Israeli civilians who hurled rocks toward Palestinian vehicles adjacent to the town of Al Mughayyir," the IDF spokesperson stated

"IDF soldiers arrived at the scene and spotted a number of suspects, some masked, hurling rocks at a Palestinian truck. The soldiers responded with warning shots into the air.

"Later on, after the civilians refused to evacuate from the area, the soldiers responded with riot dispersal means. One of the civilians kicked an IDF soldier and pepper sprayed a police officer. The suspect was detained at the scene by the Israel Police along with a number of other suspects.

The military statement said that "the IDF views with great severity any violence against IDF soldiers and security forces, who operate night and day for the security of residents."

A group of Jews rioted in the Arab village of Huwara in Samaria on Sunday, hours after a terrorist shot and killed two brothers, Hillel and Yagel Yaniv, in the same town. Dozens of vehicles and about 15 buildings were burned, and one person was killed, according to Arabic reports.

Last night, (Monday), another riot occurred in the area of Shavei Shomron, where rioters threw stones at IDF forces who arrived to disperse them. The IDF claimed that a vehicle driven by Jewish residents of Samaria accelerated toward an IDF officer and attempted to knock him down during the riot.

The riot in Huwara was condemned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called on Israeli citizens not to take the law into their own hands during a speech in the Knesset yesterday (Monday).

"Despite the passions, there is no room for anarchy, and we will not allow it. We will not accept a reality in which people 'do what is right in their own eyes:' setting fire to houses, burning cars, and deliberately harming innocents," Netanyahu said.
