French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday spoke to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the terrorist attacks over the weekend.

During the conversation, Macron called for restraint after the latest violence, reported AFP.

The French President "recalled the need for all to avoid measures likely to feed the spiral of violence", his office said in a statement quoted by the news agency.

He also expressed his "readiness to contribute to the resumption of dialogue between the Palestinians and the Israelis", the statement added.

Macron repeated his condemnation of Friday's shooting attack in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem in which seven people were murdered.

Friday’s attack in Jerusalem was condemned by leaders around the globe. State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel was among those who condemned the massacre, describing it as "absolutely horrific".

Late on Friday night, President Joe Biden held a phone call with Netanyahu in which he condemned the attack and said the US would provide Israel with assistance.
