Yesh Atid chairman and leader of the opposition Yair Lapid will attend the left-wing demonstration against the government that will be held on Saturday night in Tel Aviv.

Lapid's decision comes after he was criticized by fellow opposition members for not participating in the large demonstration last Saturday night.

In a video posted by Lapid to his Twitter account, he said, "Saturday night, a demonstration, we’re ending the madness, fighting for the country. In Haifa, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, come defend our beloved country from the destruction of democracy. Yes, I will come too."

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated last Saturday night against the new government of Benjamin Netanyahu, and protested against the judicial reform led by Minister Yariv Levin. The police estimated that about 50,000 participants took part in the protest in Tel Aviv.

After 10:00 p.m., approximately 200 demonstrators marched to the Azrieli area. The police blocked the exit to Ayalon and the protesters were arrested at the intersection. Dozens clashed with the police.

At the same time in Haifa, about 2,000 people protested against the government and about 1,500 people demonstrated outside the President's Residence in Jerusalem. Demonstrators also gathered outside the home of Justice Minister Yariv Levin in Modi'in.
