The Or Etzion Yeshiva has decided that Rabbi Shimon Lapid, who has served as head of the Kollel until now, will take over as head of the yeshiva following the death of Rabbi Chaim Druckman.

Rabbi Lapid is the son-in-law of Rabbi Druckman.

A statement issued on behalf of the yeshiva said, "At the conclusion of the Shiva for our teacher and our rabbi, the rabbis of the yeshiva gathered and agreed that Rabbi Shimon Lapid will serve as the head of the Or Etzion Yeshiva.”

"Rabbi Lapid, the rabbi's son-in-law, learned from the late rabbi for decades. His soul is connected to his soul. Rabbi Lapid is an extraordinary scholar, well versed in all areas of the Torah. He has been a role model for his students and all those around him for many years."

"We are sure that he will continue to lead the yeshiva in the way of Rabbi Druckman by adding light, love of Torah, the people and the country,” the yeshiva added.
