For many years of his life, despite his supreme devotion to Torah study, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky ztz"l gave of his time and encouraged others to support Kupat Ha'ir to help the needy, just as his home and heart were always open to those in need.
Now, with Rabbi Kanievsky taken from us, his life's work must continue, and alongside emulating his extraordinary dedication to Torah learning, we must also continue to support the poor and downtrodden, as the Sar haTorah, the Prince of Torah, would most certainly have wished.
On Sunday, prior to Rabbi Kanievsky's funeral, Rabbi Gershon Edelstein stated that each person should donate the sum of 785 shekels to Kupat Ha'ir, the gematria (numerical value) of Rav Chaim's name: Shemaryahu Yosef Chaim, which will be distributed to the needy.
Now is our opportunity to continue to support the charity that Rav Chaim supported, at the very time of his funeral. Click here to be part of this great mitzvah.
