Can we handle big change?

In the Torah portion of Vaeira - Moses notifies Pharaoh that the Jewish people need to leave Egypt for 3 days to serve God.

What is going on? Why did Moses ask for a three day hiatus from slavery instead of saying "Let my people go" from the first?
