The Fatah organization, led by Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas, on Wednesday called Israel's actions against "our heroic detainees" in the Gilboa and Negev prisons "a war crime that requires urgent international intervention to protect the heroic prisoners and free them from brutal occupation."

In a statement quoted by the official PA news agency Wafa, Fatah called on the Palestinian Arab public to launch an immediate popular uprising in all cities, villages and refugee camps in solidarity with "heroic prisoners", emphasizing that the Palestinians “will not leave them alone in this campaign.”

Fatah also called on human rights organizations and international legal institutions to focus on the Israeli "crimes" against detainees and "to ensure that Israeli war criminals who commit these crimes against our heroic prisoners are prosecuted."
