Israel's Health Ministry on Saturday reported that 5,057 Israelis have died of coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, and another 1,124 coronavirus patients are in serious condition.

The Ministry also noted that there are currently 332 coronavirus patients on ventilators.

On Friday, 6,271 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed, out of 82,545 test results received.

The country passed 5,000 deaths on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, 3,416,613 Israelis have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine, of whjom 2,006,963 have received the second dose as well.

At the same time, new data taken from a research by post-doctoral researcher Dr. Hilla De-Leon, and professors Doron Gazit, Ronit Calderon-Margalit and Yinon Ashkenazy of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem showed that the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine provides at least 50% protection beginning 10 days after the first dose, rising to 95% protection one week after the second dose. The study has not yet been peer reviewed.
