Israeli warplanes and aircraft attacked a number of terrorist targets overnight Saturday, including terrorist targets in a military compound in the northern Gaza Strip and two vessels belonging to Hamas.

According to the IDF, the attack was carried out in response to the rocket fire from Gaza on Saturday evening and following the recent terrorist attacks from the Gaza Strip, including the firing of explosive balloons and attempts to damage security infrastructures in recent days.

On Saturday evening, the red alert siren was heard in the Eshkol Regional Council of southern Israel. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that one rocket was fired from Gaza toward Israeli territory.

The rocket exploded in an open area and did not cause injuries or damages.

Earlier on Saturday, a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) round was found in an Israeli town belonging in the Sdot Negev Regional Council.

The round was attached to a balloon sent into Israel from Gaza. Sappers arriving at the area neutralized the explosive safely, avoiding injuries.

On Friday night, the Israeli Air Force struck Hamas terror targets in Gaza in retaliation for a rocket fired into Israeli territory earlier that evening.

The rocket exploded in an open field between two kibbutzim in the Eshkol Regional Council.
