The condition of one of the children critically injured in a deadly house fire in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn last week has deteriorated over the last 24 hours.

Shilat Azan, 16, has been hospitalized ever since the fire broke out while she slept last Monday morning. Shilat's mother, Aliza, 39, and three of her siblings, Moshe, 11, Yitzchak, 7, and Henrietta perished in the blaze.

The fire was caused by a Hanukkah menorah which continued to burn overnight, according to firefighters.

Shilat's father, Joseph, risked his life to save her and her brother Daniel. All three suffered serious injuries and have been treated at Staten Island University Hospital. Shilat broke her pelvis while leaping from the window.

10 people were injured in the fire, including the Azan's sixth child, a cousin who was staying with them, and five firefighters who battles the blaze.

A relative who is staying with the family in the hospital was quoted by on Kol Berama radio Monday as saying that while Joseph and Daniel's condition's were improving, Shilat's condition was deteriorating

The public is asked to pray for the recovery of Shilat Ahuva bat Aliza.
