Four people were killed in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn early Monday morning.

Authorities say a 40-year-old woman, her 11-year-old son, 7-year-old son, and 3-year-old daughter died as a result of a house fire that broke out overnight.

At least 10 people were injured in the fire, including three people who suffered serious injuries. Five of the injured were firefighters attempting to rescue people trapped inside the burning building.

Firefighters say the blaze began on the second floor of the private home, and spread to the first floor and attic.

“There were big flames shooting out the front of the house,” one witness told The New York Daily News. “Firefighters went straight into the fire.”

Police say the fire broke out around 2:30 Monday morning on 1945 East 14th Street near Avenue S.

Neighbors say the three-floor single-family dwelling was home to a family of eight - two parents and their six children.
