A Beit Shemesh child who lost consciousness at kindergarten Thursday but was resuscitated by emergency medical first responders passed away Thursday night, after losing consciousness following the evacuation to a hospital.

The child passed out at a kindergarten on Bar Ilan Street in Beit Shemesh Thursday afternoon. United Hatzalah first responders were dispatched to the scene and treated the child, who had stopped breathing.

Paramedics were able to resuscitate the child, who was subsequently evacuated to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

The mother of the child said that her son had not been feeling well during the day and when she picked him up from kindergarten he turned blue and passed out.

"When I arrived I found the child blue, unconscious and not breathing," said United Hatzalah EMT Ofir Yitzchak. "Together with other volunteers from United Hatzalah I performed CPR on the child until the ambulance came. Luckily, we were able to revive the child to the point where he began breathing once again, and he was transported in serious but stable condition."

Sadly, however, the child’s condition deteriorated Thursday evening, and doctors were forced to declare the child’s death. The child was laid to rest Thursday night, United Hatzalah reported.
