Fighters of Battalion 603 of Brigade 7 arrived last May for operational activity near the Jewish community of Otniel in the Hevron Hills regional council.
As part of their activities, the fighters were responsible for the defense of the central road passing through the region and nearby Jewish communities such as Otniel and Beit Haggai.
During the period, 92 weapons search operations were carried out, with the fighters achieving a 66% success rate and more than 20 weapons found. In addition, dozens of arrests of terrorists were carried out, as was activity for the confiscation of funds intended for terrorism and the confiscation of incitement materials.
Lt. Col. Idan Jorno told Arutz Sheva, "During the time [we were stationed in the area], we carried out many operational activities in cities and villages. When you enter a house with intelligence information that a weapon is contained there, the fighters understand that they have to search until they find it. "
"The battalion also acted stubbornly and persistently on the roads. Their presence and inspections led to a significant decrease in stone-throwing during [their time guarding the area]," said the battalion commander.
