Samaria Chief Rabbi and Head of the Elon Moreh Yeshiva Rabbi Elyakim Levanon visited the protest tent near the prime minister’s residence, set up by bereaved families of terror victims and Judea and Samaria municipal heads demanding budget allocation for security infrastructure and bypass roads in Judea and Samaria.

Rabbi Levanon met with the protesters, and expressed his full support for their cause.

“In these days, the Prime Minister is in England at events marking 100 years since the Balfour Declaration, that same Balfour Declaration which called for the establishment of a Jewish home in the land of Israel,” Rabbi Levanon said.

“A Jewish home implies freedom of movement in our country, without having to fear Molotov cocktails and attacks and lacking the ability to defend ourselves, without having to fear a terrorist infiltration into unguarded communities. We do not hide behind concrete systems and fortresses.”

“We know that those who fear, hide. We don’t hide. Women and children travel on these roads, and this is a matter on which there needs to be consensus.”

According to Rabbi Levanon, a situation in which the government cannot allocate budget for the security of its citizens is inconceivable. “It cannot be that you can’t find the funds, both for [the sake of] Jews and Arabs [who transfer supplies to the Jewish communities.] They deserve to be safe, as well.”
