Knesset Finance Committee Chairman MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) is convinced that the current coalition is the best one for the haredi community, and backed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in the face of the investigations against him.

Gafni stated in an interview with Kol Brahma Radio that "despite the Supreme Court and its disturbing decision regarding recruitment, this has still been the best period for the haredi sector."

"If the Lapid government would have continued and did not fall miraculously, we would have reached a situation where Rabbi Shach said we would have had to leave the Land of Israel. Today all of Lapid's decrees have been cancelled," Gafni explained.

"A haredi journalist accused us of not bringing the 'cessation clause' into the coalition. At the start, the coalition did not have a majority, and if we had been 'leaders,' it would have led to our being in the opposition," he said. "I sat with Justice Minister Shaked and announced our support during the course of her and Minister Bennett's legislation."

When asked about the investigations against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his wife, Gafni said, "I support Netanyahu because there is no place in the world where the prime minister is investigated for cigars and trays. It seems that a [witch-hunt] is being conducted and they are looking for a state witness at any price. In my opinion, the current government will complete its full term. Even the opposition does not want elections."

"I suggested in the past to [Shas leader Aryeh] Deri that UTJ and Shas should join together with Shas, but he refused. In the upcoming elections, it will certainly be relevant and depends, of course, on the decision of the great sages of Israel. There is unprecedented cooperation between the factions," Gafni added. "I had no interest in serving as finance minister in the government."
