A haredi woman in her 20s died Monday night after being electrocuted at her home in northern Israel.
The victim, Shani Berdichevsky, was a newlywed, married last week, and was supposed to join family and friends for the final “Sheva Brachot” post-nuptial celebration.
According to the victim’s relatives, Berdichevsky was electrocuted while preparing for the event.
MDA emergency first responders were called to Berdichevsky’s home in Tirat Hacarmel and provided first aid, but were unable to resuscitate her. Berdichevsky was ultimately declared dead at the scene.
“When I entered the apartment I saw a young woman in her 20s lying on the floor unconscious, not breathing, and with no pulse,” MDA paramedic Assad Guhadad said. “We provided medical treatment and performed advanced resuscitation techniques, but in the end she was declared dead.”
The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
