In a celebration of matriarch Rose Wolf's dedication to Judaism and her commitment to Torah and Zionism, her family donated a Sefer Torah in her name through the International Young Israel Movement to the Israeli Defense Forces.
On March 15, Rose, along with her children, grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, gathered with friends and 25 students from the Ashreinu Yeshiva in Bet Shemesh at the Beit Guvrin IDF training base.
They were met by base commander Colonel N, Lt. Colonel D, and a number of other generals and soldiers from assorted IDF units.
The procession was proceeded by a small ceremony where family members placed a new cover on the Torah. It read: Dedicated in honor of Rose Wolf – a lover of the Land of Israel, the People of Israel and the Torah of Israel”.
Accompanied by joyful music, the procession of the new Sefer Torah made its way under a chuppah around the base. The procession ended at the base's synagogue where the Torah was placed in the ark.
Audrey Samuels, one of Rose's daughters, spoke during the reception about her mother's lifelong contributions before praising the soldiers. Commander N thanked Rose for giving the hundreds of soldiers stationed at the base a Sefer Torah for prayer services.
The event concluded with both family members and soldiers thanking each other for the moving ceremony.
