Likud members who attended Monday evening’s campaign rally in Tel Aviv hailed the party’s democratic process in selecting its Knesset list, but said that the main goal now is to win the March 17 elections and defeat the Labor list headed by MKs Yitzhak Herzog and Tzipi Livni.
“The Likud party is a strong democracy. You see it in action today,” MK Danny Danon told Arutz Sheva. “We are proud of the process, and now we are focusing on the main target: To get more than 30 seats in the next Knesset, to form a strong government with a strong coalition.”
The Likud must “defeat the left, this strange pairing of Buji (Herzog) and Tzipi (Livni),” added Danon.
Also present at Monday’s rally was MK Tzipi Hotovely who, according to results announced Sunday evening, was placed in the 26th spot on the party list, which may or may not be realistic at the moment. Reports Monday indicated that a single polling station at the community of Neria, in Samaria, gives Hotovely 82 votes and secures her place in the 20th spot on the list, ahead of former minister Avi Dichter.
“We have very important elections and I think that today, more than ever, it is important to make sure that Netanyahu will be the head of a very big party and that Israel won’t get to the point that it needs to go to elections every two years,” said Hotovely.
MK Miri Regev said that the Likud list is “an excellent one socially, politically, defensively, that will be able to meet our country’s challenges. This is a holiday for democracy, and from here we’re united to bring victory to the Likud.”
Interior Minister Gilad Erdan told Arutz Sheva that in this election campaign, “the difference between left and right is much clearer. There is also no complacency, because the left has united, unlike in the last elections.”
“There is a clear choice here between the Likud’s nationalist and responsible way and the left’s way of withdrawals, concessions and joining the international criticism against Israel,” he added.
