The IDF released a video montage Tuesday, showcasing its best efforts to continue to defend the Jewish people in their homeland.

While several important moments are highlighted in the video, the montage includes a special focus on the IDF's extensive efforts to provide aid in the Philippines, after Typhoon Heiyan killed 10,000 and displaced hundreds of thousands in November.

Other moments include stopping rock-throwing attacks and IDF operations to destroy Gaza's terror tunnels.

In addition, the IDF blog has also released a list highlighting the most inspiring moments of 2013. Several of the moments showcase individual soldier's moving stories, experiences, and life histories. Specific events include the documentation of a firebombing in Samaria, the promotion of 100 year-old general Yitzhak Pundak, and an interview with Lt. Tomer Omri.

The IDF noted, "the motivation that fuels us extends far beyond defense against terrorism. On the other side of the world, we rushed to help victims of a typhoon in the Philippines. At home, we conducted exercises with the largest militaries in the world, developed cutting-edge technologies, and expanded other efforts to overcome the challenges facing Israel."

"In 2013, as always, our soldiers carried out difficult missions while sustaining the values that make the IDF unique."
