Education Minister Shai Piron (Yesh Atid) was released on Friday afternoon from the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikvah, where he had been hospitalized ever since he fell ill after accompanying the prime minister to Auschwitz.
Upon his return to his home, Piron said he feels good. He thanked the medical staff at Beilinson for the "professional and dedicated care he received” and also thanked all those who had expressed concern for his health.
Rabbi Piron felt chest pains and general discomfort during the course of the flight from Poland to Israel on Thursday evening. He was taken off the prime minister's airplane on a stretcher, after the plane returned to Israel. He was conscious the whole time.
As of Friday morning, there were no signs that he had suffered a heart attack.
In addition to Piron, four ministers accompanied the prime minister to Poland: International Relations Minister Yuval Steinitz (Likud), Culture and Sport Minister Limor Livnat (Likud), Science, Technology and Space Minister Yaakov Perry (Yesh Atid) and the Minister for Senior Citizens Uri Orbach (Bayit Yehudi). They met with their Polish counterparts.
