Jerusalemites pulled together this week to show their support for the former residents of Gush Katif at a fair held in the neighborhood of Har Nof, where a special exhibition was held for business owners who were expelled from their homes during the 2005 Disengagement. The fair featured goods and works of art that were produced by businesses owned by those who lived in the former Jewish region of Gaza.
One of the organizers of the fair, Tzipi Segal, said it was the least she could do: "It has been more than four years since the expulsion from Gush Katif. Our precious brothers are trying to support and advance themselves and the difficult obstacles they face daily have greatly hindered their ability to do so.
"Due to my own acquaintance with the "Ben Or" women's group, I thought it was only right to help them sell their products and works of art, because they don't have any other way to distribute their merchandise at this point."
Segal said the Har Nof community was extremely supportive of the effort, and turned out with great joy and desire to help. Students at a girls' school even made signs and helped before and during the event, she said.
"We all came together for the cause," Segal explained, "from a desire to give them strength, and to enable them just to have a forum. In prayer that we can truly give a feeling that we are participating and also the authority not to function the public embrances and contributes with all its ability.
